ADHD and Autism Affirming Therapy in the East Bay Area and California

Thea Integrative Therapy specializes in providing Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy in the East Bay Area, supporting individuals who identify as Autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent. Based in Lafayette, California, our practice is dedicated to helping clients move away from shame and self-blame, and toward self-acceptance and self-empowerment. You’re weird, and we like that! Our founder, Celine, identifies as neuroqueer and brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work. They understand firsthand the challenges of navigating a world not designed for neurodivergent minds—and the pain and shame that can come from trying to fit into neurotypical expectations. Celine encourages you to drop the mask, and live authentically in the way that feels best for you first.

Celine’s approach to Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a strengths-based perspective. Together, we’ll explore your unique ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting—celebrating your neurodiversity while developing realistic tools that work for you. Celine’s solutions-driven and direct, strengths-based approach will enable you to reshape what isn’t currently working, and create systems to allow you to enjoy your life again, without the shame. • “Neurodivergent” refers to people whose brains function differently from what society considers neurotypical. This includes individuals with ADHD, Autism, PTSD, trauma and other neurological differences. These are natural variations in how humans experience and process the world. However, if we never learn to accommodate our differences, we can internalize shame, struggle with basic daily tasks, and feel immensely overwhelmed with life. This can lead to depression, anxiety, shame, substance dependency, and stress.

  • Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy centers on acceptance, validation, and understanding rather than trying to “fix” or change you. It focuses on helping you build self-trust, reduce shame, embrace your strengths, and designate accommodations within a world often designed for neurotypical norms. Our goal is to release you from the constant struggle of daily life and enable you to thrive and find ease.

  • Absolutely. Our approach helps individuals with ADHD and Autism better understand their unique needs, manage daily challenges, and cultivate confidence in their neurodivergent identity—all within a safe, affirming space. Celine identifies as Autistic and ADH, and pulls from her lived experience to support you in meeting your goals for a happier and healthier lifestyle.

  • Neuroqueer describes the practice of embracing one’s neurodivergent brain and one’s queer identity in a way that’s intentional, proud, and liberatory, while actively subverting societal expectations of what is considered “normal” or “acceptable.”

The term “neuroqueer” was originally coined by Nick Walker in 2008 to capture how neurodivergence and queer identity intersect and can subvert both neurotypicality and heteronormativity simultaneously. This can involve embracing neurodivergent and queer aspects as inherently connected, liberating oneself from ingrained social norms, and creatively experimenting with identity and expression.
