Depression & Anxiety Treatment for Creatives in the San Francisco Bay Area
At Thea Integrative Therapy in Lafayette, CA, we believe healing is both an art and a practice. We welcome LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent creatives, and anyone longing to move beyond anxiety, depression, and self-doubt into a more grounded, authentic way of being. Serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and across California, our work weaves compassion, curiosity, and creativity into every session. Together, we explore the landscapes of your mind and body—helping you rediscover calm, connection, and the freedom to fully express yourself.
Our therapy integrates mind, body, and spirit holistically, while pulling from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based practices, Narrative Therapy, Solutions-Focussed Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing (SE) to support emotional regulation, and nervous system healing. These modalities invite awareness to the stories and sensations that shape your unique experience, transforming them into pathways toward resilience and self-trust. Whether you join us in person in Lafayette or online anywhere in California, Thea Integrative Therapy offers a creative, affirming space where your truth, identity, and creativity can thrive.

Our therapeutic approach recognizes that LGBTQ+ people and neurodivergent creatives often face unique stressors such as minority stress, identity-based discrimination, internalized shame, and sensory or processing differences. At Thea Integrative Therapy, we use affirming modalities like LGBTQ-affirmative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrate creative methods such as somatic experiencing, narrative therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness to support emotional regulation, identity affirmation, and creative expression.
Most importantly, we provide you space to express yourself, release pent up emotions, and affirm your strengths and positive dimensions of Self. We understand first hand how depression and anxiety make it difficult to function, and we will support you as you develop tools to manage your symptoms.

If you’re feeling persistent sadness, hopelessness, worry, restlessness, changes in sleep or appetite, or avoiding activities you once enjoyed — especially if these feelings relate to gender identity, neurodivergence, or creative burnout — it’s time to reach out for support.

Therapy is a personal process, and progress varies based on factors like frequency of sessions, the severity of symptoms, and your engagement in the work. Many clients begin to notice positive shifts within 6–12 sessions as they learn new coping skills and gain insight into their emotions. At Thea Integrative Therapy, we focus on sustainable progress — supporting healing that unfolds at your own pace, whether through short-term skill-building or deeper, long-term exploration.

The most effective therapy often depends on each person’s needs, but evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Solutions-Focussed Therapy are widely recognized for helping individuals manage symptoms of anxiety and depression. At Thea Integrative Therapy located in the San Francisco East Bay Area, we blend these approaches to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, calm the nervous system, meet their daily needs, and build emotional resilience — creating lasting, meaningful change.
When needed, we refer you to medication management to treat your symptoms, and confer with your psychiatrist and treatment team to ensure you receive the wrap around support you deserve.
